CHAMP Partners for Literacy

Young students often demonstrate increased anxiety when reading. When working with a child who has reading anxiety, you may observe their face reddening, rapid breathing and heightened emotions. Reading to dogs can help motivate children by increasing relaxation, reducing blood pressure, lowering stress and offering a non-judgmental, safe environment to practice reading.

CHAMP Partners for Literacy is part of our Therapy Dog Program. We visit libraries and school reading programs so children can cuddle up with a special book to practice reading while experiencing unconditional love from a furry best friend.
